WOW!!! I can’t say enough about Mikes tour but that doesn’t mean I won’t try. I wanted to wait until I took a different tour I booked to write the review because I enjoyed his so much and wanted to see if the other one was a similar experience. Almost from the second we arrived at the “other tour” we knew that after being first class on Mike’s tour we had stumbled into economy coach. once you’ve gone first class, coach is a tough pill to swallow. I digress…
Mike met us in a centralized location and picked the other couple up at theirs to avoid the cherry festival traffic…his communication was excellent the entire time. i tried several methods to reach the “other tour” because we had issues with the cherry festival and never got a response. We got in his gorgeously appointed limo size SUV that didn’t look like a converted school bus with tacky logos etc on the sides.
On the way to the first winery he had interesting and funny stories filled with history and tc lore and then would explain what wines the winery was know. for and what to try. The other you had a 25yo driver who”didn’t really like wine” and knew absolutely nothing about the wineries and then played can music with Hannah Montana etc(Party in the USA…ok)
When we got to each winery, the winery managers, bartenders etc knew we were arriving and Mike seemed to be like a local celebrity entertaining his closest friends.
He was attentive yet not hovering or annoying. When we would go buy bottles or merch, he would take them, put them in a box and we didn’t have to worry about them. When we asked where we could put our bottles and merc on the other tour the kid was like “ummmm….” and we just tried to keep them from rolling around in the cheesy converted school bus.
It was so awesome to hear the history of the Old Mission Peninsula vineyards, get such great advice on choosing, and because you’re in such a hospitable environment with a good vibe, you tend to meet people (which we did!!! Shout out to the Ohio crew!!!) and have a wonderful time!!!! i was so disappointed the next day on the other tour that rhymes with “tragic gus”(wink wink). If you don’t have the time of your life with Mike….you will. Book it Danno
